Hometown: Bronxville, NY
Current residence: Tucson, AZ
Date of Birth: May 11, 1975
Education: Colgate University, BA ‘97 University of Arizona, MFA ‘00
Occupation: Cyclist/Journalist/Editor/Author/Public Speaker/Fitness Model
Occupation which generates any sort of income: I am a senior editor at espnW, the new women’s side of ESPN.
In 2000, I received my master of fine arts degree in nonfiction writing from the University of Arizona. My first book, All the Sundays Yet to Come: a skater’s journey was published by Little, Brown in 2003. My 2nd book, As Good as Gold, was released by ESPN Books in May 2010. My articles have appeared in ESPN: The Magazine, ESPN.com, Details, Examiner.com, Triathlete, Inside Triathlon, and UsWeekly. I now work for espnW as an editor and columnist (London Calling), and feel very fortunate to be in a position where I can give unsung female athletes a better voice in the media.
In 2010, I married my wonderful husband, George Varhola. (He rides a bike, too. Go figure.)
