Can you help Kathryn & SKN?
As the 2012 London Olympics begin their qualifying races in 2011, I’m hoping to earn St. Kitts and Nevis their first cycling berth to the Games. This time around, it isn’t as logistically ”easy” as the ESPN assignment was in 2008. This time there is no book deal or online column financially supporting the quest. (Yet!)
What’s more, Reggie and James, the two top male cyclists of St. Kitts and Nevis, also struggle with getting to major races like World Championships and Commonwealth Games.
I’m hoping some sponsors and some angel investors may be able contribute to my/our journey, as the majority of the Olympic qualifying races are in Europe, Asia and South America over the course of an 18 month period. Flights, hotels, homestays, and food all create a large expense! But there are some clever ways to help offset the costs…

Frequent flyer miles! Do you happen to have unused frequent flier miles? If you’d like to donate them, I know we could put them to great use.
Tax deductable donations! The SKN cycling federation can issue the international equivalent of a 501c3 receipt. Any donation, no matter how small, can help us off set travel costs.
You know people who know people! Sometimes, all it takes is knowing the right people. When we were at the 2009 World Championships in Switzerland, someone knew someone with a house big enough to hold 5 sweaty, cycling guests and Voila! The SKN cycling team had a free place to stay. Another friend knew someone with discounts to major hotel and rental car chains. You get the idea. Networking has helped us out tremendously. If you’ve got an idea, please let us know.
If you are willing and able to help with my 2012 quest, I’d be ever appreciative and grateful. Please send me an email and we’ll discuss the details. Thank you so much.
